It's a collection of photographs. It's not really meant to be read.

That feels like a very specific 'we', which is probably the opening to an 'it's complicated' talk. If it helps, we can probably skip the preamble.

I know a version of yourself but he definitely doesn't have a book out, photographs or not.

[ stephen let him tell you how many versions of himself he has met. ]

It was a couple of years ago, relatively speaking. I'd say maybe you really did just miss it, but outside of the question of where, there's the question of when, right?

A couple of years ago and I'm not sure you'd even be in high school.

We have, once. But not consistently.

[ there are a few immediate thoughts in response to that: one, teenage him worked with, quote unquote, doctor strange, question mark; two, peter's met teenage him and he also remembers being teenage him. teenage him was absolutely not his Best Self^TM which — subsection of two: he was not winning any Most Popular Superhero of the Year awards at that age. ]

Oh, boy.

That answers one question. High school was a while ago for me.

Sooo... Was this a check-in or a check-up?

Mostly I was concerned you might be sixteen and unsupervised. [ And recently dead then bereaved, but that's an aside for another time ] As you're not, it's a check-in.

I was thinking about making a triumphant return to it, even if print-based media's more my speciality than digital.

It's not likely to earn you any critical acclaim but I'm looking for someone to take on a commercial job.

Critical acclaim can wait for when I'm not spending my time asking deeply personal questions to myself about how I'm going to afford the basic necessities.

What's the job?

The bar needs an online presence. Which means I need somebody to immortalize it before it's sticky.
