[ god, DON'T call him out like this, it's too real ]
Everybody needs a fallback career.
We've been heavily represented over the months. Right now there are four of us from my universe, a few from some others. How closely did you work with the Avengers?
[ Please. you can't actually have to be a card carrying member of the Avengers to be an Avenger, surely ]
Steve Rogers is around. As is Captain Danvers, if you know her. A couple of the others have come and gone and Loki's about as harmless as can be hoped for.
I know her. [ 'why the qualifier?' is a question; there's also a comment to be said about 'loki had your job for a while', but, you know, conversation for another day. ] I don't know if harmless can ever be used in conjunction with Loki, but I also figure it's part and parcel of his schtick.
It's worth knowing that I arrived here over seven months ago. If there's something you need to know or a connection you want to make, there's a high chance I can aim you in the right direction.
Seven months is a long time to be somewhere that isn't home.
[ there's a "you okay?" buried within that, but they're not quite there yet and peter's not really sure he's quite there with the strange of his world, pep talks and late-night "please help me with This Thing" visits aside.
(honestly, the pep talk was arguably easier.) ]
I'll circle back round to asking you about connections because I'm not quite sure if that sounds ominous because it is ominous, or whether it just sounds ominous and foreboding because it's coming from you.
[ after a moment, he adds: ]
But really, thanks for the heads-up and the who's who. And look, I know I'm not the kid you thought I was, but for what it's worth, the check-in is appreciated. Without it getting too weird, I'll just say that it says a lot about where you're from.
[ not for him as such, but knowing that an alternate, absolute baby version of him already has some of the avengers on his side? that is pretty good to know. ]
[ It says a lot about where you're from. Stephen sits with that. This Parker has no idea what his universe has just put its own through. What Stephen Strange himself was willing to put him through - why he'd really been so ready to sweep in the moment he saw his name.
And he isn't certain he's ready to have that discussion with him either. What happened at home clearly didn't in this Peter's universe. Does he need to know?
Probably, one day. But not right this second. ]
He's a good kid. You've got big shoes to fill.
[ It's meant as play. The rest goes left entirely where it is: to lean into the initial observation would be to need to explain why cross-universal abduction now feels almost like a vacation. ]
[ this has entered 'THIS IS AN UNCOMFORTABLE CONVERSATION NOW' territory, so— ]
We're talking size 10s, right? I'd say I've got it, but shoe sizes aren't universal. European sizes always throw me — like, 43. 43 what, you know? Is it like clothing sizes, does it vary slightly country to country? Italian versus French versus Spanish.

[ something something please don't indulge him if he turns up at your door with a goddamn house spider. ]
I had a card for a while - which, by the way, is actually really inconvenient when you don't have pockets.

I'll take your point. Let's switch up the phrasing: he comes in peace.
Then there's the other you.

Is this one unsupervised too?

Did you leave mentioning the other me until last for dramatic effect? Because Doc, you really shouldn't have.

He goes by peter.benjamin if you wanted to track him down.

[ "peter benjamin", well. it's better than "ben reilly" AT LEAST. ]
Wow, subtlety really isn't my middle name. I was wrong all these years.
...Does your middle name also begin with 's', out of interest?

No.

What about 'p'?

Not to say you have Greek roots, I have no idea what your background is.
