yeah. i guess it's only as complicated as it is because i don't want to deal with it there's nothing that says i have to keep this a secret or keep any secrets but also that's all we've ever done and inevitably he'd want to know more so
I get it. It's a tough habit to break. Hell, one time I shared something I didn't ever imagine I was going to share with anyone and I spent about 20 minutes in the bathroom afterwards.
I realize this is me acknowledging that and then just steamrolling right past, but: have you told him that, by the way? That you don't want to "deal with this"?
But if we run with his incredibly flawed theory: he's got to know that you can't tell him anything, right? That if you WERE a future him, you know that either you do tell him who you are and what happens, or... you don't, and he ends up back here again, in something like a whole two years.
Which would be encouraging for our eventual survival and return(s) home if it wasn't completely wrong. It'd also mean that we weren't successful with whatever plan we had for dealing with the World Eaters, which you'd know if you were ... him.
You'd be opening up alternate timelines (WAY less cool than it sounds), or we'd have to assume you're both already from alternate timelines which has got to have occurred to him.

anyway so i told him i was
that seemed like the better option
let's see how long it takes him to figure out
i'm sorry for all of these multiples (1/?)
Future, not alternate.
i'd say i'll stop but that's a lie

Is he that different?

Must be unsettling.
[ give the mentor-trainee dynamic jason had previously mentioned. ]

and why would it be anymore unsettling than what it already is?

He trained you, so he should know you, but he doesn't. All he knows is what he's managed to work out, and what you've given away. Told him, whichever.
So in some ways, here, you're the one with power.
...Would you prefer 'weird'?

but i don't plan on giving anything else away.
and funny, that's what he said too. but this isn't exactly the kind of power i'd want normally.
i just don't want to deal with it.

Is he going to push this?

Emphasis on the paradox, but sure. Point taken.

Even then, we all know time isn't linear so...
