I might be able to think of a couple of suggestions of what your glowy green thing could be, but I'd be reluctant to commit anything to paper without knowing a little more.
The only thing I'm fairly confident in saying is that the majority of the time if something's glowing? It's not good news.
Purely hypothetically speaking, it could be that our favorite spirits didn't originally have green eyes and that something happened to them here that led to them developing the powers and abilities that they have, and the green eyes are simply a physical signifier of that change.
I'd run the idea by Robin to see what experience she had, she confirmed that her interactions with the Green-Eyed have been limited beyond when they brought her that lantern. They've never seemed interested in hurting her.
And when the spirits had attacked before it was someone attempting to reach the lighthouse, or their attempt to make the others sleep and dream with us. I suspect these mass abductions has a similar purpose.
Yeah. When we first arrived and headed out to the lighthouse, Cap Winters warned us that we'd be run into resistance. Interactions at that time and since have mostly relayed the idea that the green-eyed spirits are acting out of some kind of sense of duty and desire to protect. Originally, that seemed to be for the lighthouse and the keeper, now it seems to be broader, but...
Is it potentially just a poor attempt at communication? Yeah, maybe. But I'll admit as much I want to believe that's the case, I don't know if I'd pin all of my hopes on that.
